Resources for Your “Home Gym”

I’ve redefined what a “home gym” is. Instead of an area in your home that weights and expensive sports equipment, your Get Fit with Charity home gym is any space in your home that is dedicated to your bodyweight training and Tabata workouts.

Even though the focus is on Bodyweight Training, there are a few items you may want to use. They will add a little intensity to your workouts and help you take it a step further.

Equipment

Gliding Disks

These little disks can revolutionize your workout by isolating your core.

They have versions for hard floors and for carpeted floors.

Figure 8 Tubing

This type of resistance band will help you sculpt your upper body!

There are a variety of different resistance levels, so you may want to avoid getting one based on the color.

Different colors mean different levels depending on the company. Even so, I tend to stick with red because it’s usually somewhere in the middle.

Yoga Mat

Since some of our exercises will be on the floor, you might want to place something between you and the floor.

Doing forearm planks on a hard surface can be painful. In fact, so are rug burns.

I’ve tried a variety of mats over the years, but most of them aren’t very durable. My favorite mat is thicker than a typical mat, and it won’t slip.

Cooling Towel

I was definitely a bit skeptical about a towel that can cool you off, but it works.

If you follow the directions, you will be amazed at how quickly your body cools down during and after exercise.

There are several colors to choose from.

Water Bottle

Contigo Ashland (32 oz)

If you’re trying to drink 64 oz of water each day, this is the water bottle for you. Simply press the button with your thumb and you’re able to drink from the spout.

There’s a straw that reaches the bottom of the bottle, so you won’t run the risk of spilling water on yourself when trying to get a sip.

The bottle is also leak-proof! One of my favorite features is the locking mechanism, that keeps the spout from being opened if the button is accidentally pressed.

Comes in multiple colors.

Contigo Addison (24 oz)

This water bottle is very similar to the Ashland. The main differences are that there’s no locking mechanism and it’s only 24 oz.

Contigo Chug (24 oz)

This is another smaller water that’s leakproof and contains the locking mechanism featured on the first one.

The main difference is that there is no straw. This water bottle is for those who want to chug, not sip, their water.
